Dear Friends

Speaking Tour by Olfat Mahmoud – VIC, SA, ACT & NSW

Olfat Mahmoud is the founder and director of long-time APHEDA partner organisation the Palestinian Women’s Humanitarian Organisation which operates in two refugee camps in Lebanon.

Like 450,000 other Palestinians, Olfat grew up in war and violence in a Beirut refugee camp and is part of the largest and longest lasting refugee community in the world.

Refugee, Nurse, Scholar and Advocate
Olfat started working in the camp as a nurse and has witnessed the impacts of long-term displacement, civil-war and the Sabra-Shatila massacre in 1982.

With first-hand experience of the challenges of multi-generational displacement through to the pressures of supporting newly arrived Syrian/Palestinian refugees, Olfat is an advocate for justice and peace for forgotten Palestinians in Lebanon.

Don’t miss an opportunity to hear Olfat speak about her experiences of refugee life, nursing in conflict zones and the challenges facing the forgotten Palestinians in Lebanon during her Australian visit.
